Dingo x Donk

Hey Christine Issue 01

cover and inside page

This zine is a random letter to my sister, Christine. We have lived in different states, sometimes countries, for the past 24 years and mostly communicate by phone or text but isn’t it fun to get something in the mail every now and then? Yeah. I agree. So this zine is just random stuff I would normally share with her over text but decided to write in a zine.

Dinner Book Club Issue 06

cover and first two pages of the dinner book club zine

DBC is back for 2026! In this issue, you’ll find a super old recipe I got out of a Thrasher Magazine in the lat 80’s. Wow. Time is flying! You’ll also be able to read my thoughts on four interesting books:

  • The House On Mango Street
  • Don’t Let’s Go To The Dogs Tonight
  • More
  • Pure Innocent Fun

Don’t Let’s Go To The Dogs Tonight has been made into a movie. I found it on Apple or iTunes or whatever it’s called now. It’s not as in-depth as the book but it is very good! The actress who plays Bobo is amazing! 10/10 highly recommend.

Dinner Book Club 2025

cover and inside pages of the dinner book club zine

This one is more for me than you. I decided to retire last year’s Dinner Book Club mini zines but liked the idea of an “end of the year” recap. What I ended up with was Dinner Book Club No. 2025, a quarter size compilation of all the books we read last year. I added my favorite quotes and some art to make it more attractive but it’s the same text from the mini zines. So, I guess what I’m saying is that you don’t need to order this if you already read Dinner Book Club 1 to 5. Unless you really want to? But if you haven’t, this little guy covers 18 books and is, if I say so myself, really neat.

(*) Retired Zines, Goodbye 2025

Daffy - Volume Two

cover of daffy zine

VOLUME TWO IS HERE!!

It took a little longer than we expected to get this guy off to the printer but the wait is over! Volume Two is here and we’re very happy with how it turned out.

For our friends that already requested “future issues,” keep an eye out because we’ve mailed copies to all of you.

If you aren’t familiar, Daffy is/was Nick’s first zine. He’s been working on this story for a very long time. It’s a dark story inspired by the years we lived in North Africa. The main character is a taxi driver named Daffy. Daffy works the night shift and has some odd experiences and maybe a bit of PTSD. He’s doing his best.

Dinner Book Club Issue 5

cover and first two pages of the dinner book club zine

Dinner Book Club No. 5 is a little different. In this issue I share my thoughts on books we could.not.finish. Oh, and a recipe for Cream Cheese Chicken Taquitos. Yumm!

I do not love DNFing a book but it happens. Sometimes, the timing is just off. Other times, it’s just dumb and it makes me feel dumb. Sad face. If you feel differently and think we should give one of these books another try, PLEASE let me know. I hate to miss out on a good time. Otherwise, here are the books we could not finish:

Hello Vancouver - Not A Travel Guide

cover of hello vancouver

Hey, Besties!

My sister and I spent a long weekend in Vancouver recently. It was our first visit to Canada but not the last! We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the city. My favorite movie is Tron Legacy so it was really cool to see some of the filming locations around town. I didn’t have room to write about it in the zine but it was a highlight to see Encom Tower just blocks away from our hotel. And to drive across the bridge from the final scene with Sam and Quorra! Good times. :)

Swingtown, Vol 2

covers of A Swingtown Fan Zine

Hey, Swingsters!

In the second volume of Swingtown, A Fan Zine, I recap episodes 5 - 7 for you. This brings us to the halfway point of the season (and series, sadly) and I have lots of thoughts to share! I feel like all of our characters have changed and grown since the first episode. I think Michael Kelley did a really good job with character development. My opinion of everyone has shifted and I can now see likeable (and unlikeable) aspects to each of them. Even the kids have more depth. I still don’t like them but they do add some value to the storyline.

Swingtown, Vol 1

covers of A Swingtown Fan Zine

Hey, Swingsters!

When I started this project, I imagined writing one mini zine per episode. It worked for the first few but Episode 5 was a turning point. I realized I had a lot more to say and I needed more space than a mini zine could provide. I decided to change formats. Major, I know. After some experimentation and inspo from the zine world, I decided on a 24 page quarter-size zine that will cover 3 to 4 episodes. This works out a lot better for me and I’m stoked to be learning a new way to print zines.

Dinner Book Club, Issue #4

cover and first two pages of the dinner book club zine

It’s here! Dinner Book Club No. 4 is creaking it’s way out of my printer as I type. For this issue, we read Starter Villain, Columbine, How To Lose Your Mother, and Dinner for Vampires. While fairly good books, they did make us feel kind of gloomy. Columbine, especially, was a little heavy. So, there’s your warning. Be kind to yourself and grill some peaches. 🍑

Sad Tomato

cover of sad tomato

Hi, again.

Sad Tomato is a quarter-size rambling perzine about music but mostly about grief. It’s an example of talking about other things to find a way to talk about what’s really on your mind. I don’t know, y’all. I just really miss my best friend and the longer we are apart, the more I see him in everything.

I don’t know why I made magnets but I did. They’re ridiculous but I think my therapist would say “be kind to yourself.” She’s usually right about stuff.

The latest issue of Dinner Book Club is making its way into the world. I’m really excited about this issue for two reasons. 1), the books… obviously. And 2), we have coasters!!

I was relaxing in my favorite chair, reading the latest DBC selection, when I reached for my drink and realized it was leaving a wet ring on my side table. Not cool. What if I didn’t see the ring and set my book on top of it? Icky. That’s when it occured to me to commission DBC coasters. Who doesn’t love an iced beverage with a dry book? :)

Hey, Besties!

I just returned from a quick trip to Dubai and whipped up a mini zine to share my experience. It’s called Hello, Dubai and you can get a free copy by emailing your snail mail address to dingoxdonk@hey.com.

I feel like I should warn you that this is NOT a travel guide. It’s more like a travel diary but I also share my tips on what to wear and how to approach shop vendors. Oh, and I threw in a few photos. :)

I’m happy to share the second issue of Dinner Book Club has been released to the wild! In this issue I shared an easy/shortcut recipe for lasagna. I don’t like cooking but I also hate ordering food (so expensive!) so shortcuts are essential. The great thing about this recipe is that it’s easy to scale up or down. AND leftovers are easy to reheat. Bon appetit!

Books I Read Alone, Issue #1

📌 UPDATE: You can now order a free copy of this zine using our new DxD Zine Order Form.

The first issue of Books I Read Alone is ready to go! The distinction from my Dinner Book Club zine is that I read these books on my own, without a yummy meal to fill my tummy. I think there are some books that aren’t meant to be consumed in a group. The reasons vary but it could be because they’re too emotional (Stay True) or they’re too slow (Chaos). In the case of Stay True, I’d also say that it hits different depending on how old you were in the 90’s. I know that sounds like Gen X gatekeeping but the nostalgia was intense and I don’t know if I could have read this book with my (slightly) younger Book Club mates. Would they even understand the public dislike and secret love for Pearl Jam?? Better not to risk it. ;)

Gabba Gabba Hey, Besties!!

This latest zine is also known as “Why I Hated ‘I Slept With Joey Ramone’ Written By His Jerk Face Brother, Mickey Leigh.” I read this as part of a “buddy read” with my sister. We grew up listening to the Ramones and were excited to read about Joey’s life as a kid. It sucked to learn that his brother was a jerk. Our book club discussion was LIVELY as we roasted the author for being a crybaby.

(*) How to Fold a Mini Zine

Hey, chat! We’ve started leaving zines at random Little Free Libraries around town and it occurred to me that we might end up with visitors interested in creating their own zines. Or, at least, I hope so! Should you be interested in creating your own zines, this video from brattyxbre on YouTube is a great place to start. Slight change of plans! Books I Read Alone is being postponed to late April. Apologies!

I didn’t realize it was the five year anniversary of the pandemic until someone mentioned it to me. Then, I saw a video someone posted on YouTube of their New York Times collage journal and thought maybe I should make a zine to mark the occassion.

Living in D.C., it’s almost impossible to tune out the 24 hour news cycle and late night emails but putting this zine together provided a nice respite.

(*) My First Post

Hey, Chat!

I suppose an introduction is in order. I’m Angela. Nick and I own this little space but I’m the one updating it because he’s not into tinkering with Terminal. We aren’t really active on the socials so this is our primary online footprint so-to-speak. We like making stickers and just started making zines (that we are so eager to give away so please send us your address!). We enjoy collecting hobbies and Nick likes running/fitness/etc.
